The F@F-project between pupils of Sipoon Lukio (Finland) and Tienen College (Belgium) was set up in 1999 to enrich the socio-cultural background of European youngsters. The idea ripened at an international ICT-conference in Alden Biesen, where Tiina Viitanen and Karel Van Rompaey, both teachers of English, met.
In both schools pupils engaged in writing regularly to their foreign correspondents. E-mails dealt with differences and similarities in everyday life and with national history and culture. Throughout the project pupils coached each other to improve their written English.
